Tejava Unsweetened Tea

I was looking for Honest Tea at Safeways and struck out… Funny how that brings to mind Gotham City and Batman. Where’s the bat-beacon when you need it????

But the trip to the grocery store wasn’t a total washout as I did discover Tejava. Microbrewed tea. Hand-picked on only 2 Java island tea plantations. And just the top 2 leaves of each tea plant during May through October. Wow.

I’m amazed they get enough tea that way to brew and export to the whole world. Or maybe it’s only available in the San Francisco Bay Area (where I live)? Tejava seems to be trademarked by the Crystal Geyser Water Company in Napa Valley, so maybe it’s a California thing.

I’ve also only heard of microbrewed beer, never tea. I hardly think an international beverage company should be using the term “micro” anything!

Anyways, I can make it past all that and move on to my review. Lots of depth — definitely a bold, 3D taste. A tad bitter. Woody-tasting. I liked it by itself, but it was also very tasty combined with milk and sugar.

Also: I’m extremely curious what the drink would taste like if they used the rest of the leaves on the tea tree???
