Recchiuti 85% Bittersweet Cacao

I got the very last Recchiuti 85% Bittersweet Cacao bar at my local Peet’s Cofee and Tea this morning. The cashier guy said that Peet’s lost the contract to sell Recchiuti. Hmm… I wonder what scandal lays behind that piece of news?

Anyways, I take back everything I said about the Ghiradelli 86% bar being good… The Recchiuti is AMAZING! It’s surprisingly smooth and rich. Where is the bitterness? I could barely taste any — and did I mention it’s 85%??? I am very curious how they managed to pull that hat trick off???

The ingredients are very simple: cacao beans, sugar, cacao butter, soy lecithin, and vanilla bean.

5-star rating from me….

By the way, here’s the photo of me at Peet’s Coffee and Tea, fresh after snagging the last Recchiuti Bittersweet bar…

Recchiuti Confections Basic Box

My husband Jeff bought me a box of fru-fru chocs from Recchiuti as a yummy Mother’s Day gift! I think my two kids are supposed to be the ones buying me stuff, but I’d probably get a Thomas the Train from the 3 year old and a head cold from the 7 month old (still getting over the last one).

I generally like these variety boxes. You’ll see why when you read the selection:

  • sesame nougat
  • force noir (their basic dark choclate)
  • burnt caramel
  • tarragon grapefruit
  • kona coffee
  • bergamot tea
  • spring jasmine
  • lemon verbena

…and so on.

I’m typing on my mobile or I’d finish the list. Trust me the rest is just as tempting! I tried the two tea ones and was well-rewarded, gastronomically speaking. My only gripe is that the box cost $40 which means I can’t go out and buy these all the time.

Since my 3 year old is fighting me for the phone, time to end the review. Go try these chocolates yourself.
