This pile of extra dark truffles trembled from behind Mrs. See’s glass counters. They practically melted in fear as I paid for a pound of them. And with good reason! I really enjoyed this little truffle bomb.
Basically, it’s exactly what it claims to be — an extra dark chocolate version of See’s dark chocolate truffle, minus the nice nutty topping. It’s a little bit less sweet. Also, there’s a soft sponginess to the filling reminiscent of a denser version of mousse.
The lady at the See’s store said the truffle was only going to be available until the end of November. I’m hoping that good ol’ Mrs. See is market testing this new truffle and that the response is positive enough that it will be here to stay. But I’m not risking it… Will be heading back to the mall See’s store to score another pound… Or two!
